Colorado Farmers Markets

Nothing says harvest-time quite like a Colorado Farmers’ Market. Where else can you greet your local farmer, find delicious deals on fresh produce, and enjoy the Colorado outdoors? You can find a market for nearly every day of the week, so check out a few! To fully participate in the eco-friendly experience, we suggest bringing along several reusable grocery bags or baskets for all of your goodies.

Keep in mind that some markets are pet friendly (with a leash) and others not so much, so take care when deciding whether or not to invite Fido along.

Farmers markets are for all who want to buy fresh produce. Many locations are part of the SNAP Program and accept EBT card for payment.

We’ve added an interactive map so you can more easily pinpoint the location of each market.

Do be sure to double-check the links to any specific market listed below. We can’t emphasize enough that markets may change days, hours and offerings, depending on current conditions.

While we have done our best to provide accurate information based on what a market website posted at the time we compiled this list, things could change again.

Known for its high-quality (and often viral) products and low prices, bargain hunters across the country are very familiar with popular discount grocer . Unfortunately, savvy shoppers in Colorado have been left out of all the excitement and savings — only being able to see the trends on social media and wishing there was a location here. Well, good news! Colorado will soon be home to the iconic grocer.

Photo: ALDI

As ALDI enters its 50th year in the U.S., the low-price grocer is doubling down on its nationwide expansion, announcing plans to open more than 180 stores by the end of 2026, including entering Colorado for the first time.

ALDI plans to expand into Colorado within the next five years, with more than 50 locations planned for Denver and Colorado Springs markets — supported by an accompanying distribution center.

No other details have been announced at this time. However, MHOTC will definitely be on top of the latest news regarding the grand opening as its confirmed.

ALDI is known for its grand opening celebrations with a Golden Ticket giveaway, as well as FREE goodie bags and shopping totes!

What’s Different About ALDI?

At ALDI, the shopping experience is a little different because they display products inside their original shipping boxes as a means of keep their prices low.

Plus, more than 90% of the products in the grocery store are ALDI-exclusive brands — with many products becoming customer-favorites.

Every year, the grocer puts out a survey for customers to rate their favorite ALDI products. Look for the heart-shaped logo to find the winning goods at the same low prices.

ALDI offers low prices every single day. However, the savings get even better with ALDI Price Drops.

These extra low prices help customers save even more. Look for ALDI Price Drops throughout the store to really stretch your grocery budget.

Best of all, ALDI is known for its Twice as Nice Guarantee. If you don’t like an ALDI-exclusive product, bring it back and they will return your money and replace the product.

Finally, you can’t just grab a shopping cart at ALDI. You first need to insert a quarter to unlock a cart for use. And, when you’re done shopping, return the cart to the corral to get your quarter back.

The temporary 25-cent deposit helps keep the parking lots tidy.

.

The German-based grocery chain has more than 13,000 locations across Europe, the U.S., Australia, and China — with more than 2,600 in the U.S.

Groceries are one of the biggest monthly expenditures for everyone. That’s why bargain hunters are always on the lookout for any way to save money at the checkout lane, whether it’s from weekly sales, coupons or promos. And High On The Cheap is making it more convenient and easier by offering a “one-stop shop” round-up of the best weekly deals at popular grocery stores in Denver.

Before you go grocery shopping, note the following bargain hunter tips:

Loyalty Clubs — Most (if not, all) sales and deals require customers to be a member of the store’s loyalty club. You can sign-up online or at the customer service counter.

Sale Limits — Many sales have a limit to the number of items you can purchase at the discounted price. Be sure to review and adhere to any stated limits. If you purchase more, expect to full price for the additional items.

Use Coupons — When possible, use manufacturer or store coupons for maximum savings. At most stores, coupons can be stacked on top of sale prices. However, be aware of each store’s coupon policy, as many have limits and restrictions.

Check Clearance — Always shop your grocery store’s clearance items. Most stores have a section solely devoted to marked down items or manager’s specials. Find it at your store and check it every time you shop. You can often find items marked at 75% off or more. The items change often, based on expiration dates, damaged packaging and discontinued items.

Get a Receipt — Always get a receipt. If you have a problem with a product or experience a price discrepancy, you will need a receipt for an easier resolution. Bargain hunters always review their receipt to ensure they have properly received the correct sale prices or discounts.

Rain Checks — If a sale item is out of stock, ask for a rain check. Rain check policies vary by store. In addition, many stores do not offer rain checks on digital deals, so it’s wise to shop early.

It’s challenging nowadays for bargain hunters to get any items for FREE at the grocery store. There was once a time you could bag lots of items at no cost using coupons on top of sale prices. (Remember when grocery stores doubled or tripled coupons?) Those days are long gone! With so many coupon restrictions and limiting store policies, it’s not often you can pick up an item and not pay a single cent anymore.

Image: Safeway

However, thanks to Safeway’s Saturday Freebie giveaway, smart shoppers can grab one or two items for FREE on select weekends — usually once or twice every month.

The Saturday Freebie digital coupon is available through the grocery chain’s Safeway for U program. You must download the coupon to your account.

When it’s available, find the coupon in your account online under the “FREE Offers” category. In the Safeway app, the coupon can be found under “Events”.

You may also find it under its respective category (“Dairy, Eggs & Cheese”, “Breakfast & Cereal”, etc.) — just depends on what item is being given away on that respective Saturday.

MHOTC Tip: Bargain hunters often clear the shelves by early afternoon on Saturday. Therefore, shop early on Saturday — if it’s an item you really want. The FREE item is only available while supplies last. (NOTE: Safeway does not issue rain checks for digital offers.)

Today, April 18, 2026, the Saturday Freebie is for the following item:

FREE La Colombe draft latte (11-oz.) — reg. $3.49

The coupon is available for download through April 19, 2026 and expires April 20, 2026.

BreadThe deals are rising and fresh out of the oven for fans of baked goods and bread at the . Owned by Bimbo Bakeries USA, the store sells Oroweat, Entenmann’s, Sara Lee, Bimbo, Thomas’ and more. The shelves are full of everything you’d buy at in your grocery store in the bakery department, but at a deep discount. It’s the perfect place to stock up on many household staples!

Photo: High On The Cheap

How can the store sell fresh goods at such deep discounts? Simple. It’s attached to the Bimbo bakery.

Most products leave the bakery and are shipped to supermarkets across the country. That means the bread you buy in your local store is often three to five days old before it ends up on the shelves.

At the Bakery Outlet, most product (what didn’t get shipped out) is put on shelves within a single day. Bottom line: You are buying fresher baked goods at half the price!

Stock up on everything from loaves of bread and dinner rolls to tortillas and sweet baked goods. Plus, be sure to check out the outlet’s Deal of the Day for big savings.

There are four outlets in Colorado:

Denver — 5050 E. Evans Ave., 303-691-6342

Commerce City — 5305 E. 72nd Ave., 303-288-2502

Loveland — 373 N. Denver Ave., 970-593-0302

Colorado Springs — 3232 Chelton Circle, 719-473-4492

Hours vary by location, but most are open during the following hours:

Sunday9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Monday to Friday9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Saturday9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

If you buy more than you need at the moment, most breads and baked goods freeze well for about three months.

It was once fun as a bargain hunter to go grocery shopping and walk out of the store with two or three bags that you bought at 75% off or more — thanks to the weekly sales, customer-friendly coupon policies and the use of multiple paper coupons. Die-hard bargain hunters would often pay pennies for toothpaste, deodorant, body wash, shampoo and more. Those days are long gone!

Photo: High On The Cheap

Nowadays, it’s more of a challenge than ever to find major savings because of all the restrictive coupon policy changes, purchase limits/exceptions, influx of digital coupons and near complete disappearance of paper coupons.

Well, fortunately, King Soopers has just made a coupon policy change that’s in favor of the consumer — a rarity from companies now. Any changes are usually not to the advantage of the customer!

New Weekly Digital Deals Policy

Drum roll, please! King Soopers is now making all of those great Weekly Digital Deals unlimited.

In the past, you were limited to five items total in a single transaction and that was it. Once the transaction was complete, you were out of luck, even if you wanted to pick up a few more boxes of cereal at $1.49.

As of now, there is still a limit of five items per transaction. However, the number of transactions you can make is unlimited. (The change was made in early March.)

This basically means you can buy as much as you want of a particular item on sale — just in increments of five or less. As an example, if you wanted to buy 12 boxes of cereal on sale, here’s how you would do it…

Transaction #1 — 5 boxes of cereal

Transaction #2 — 5 boxes of cereal

Transaction #3 — 2 boxes of cereal

And there’s no waiting period between transactions. You can simply do all of the transactions back-to-back in a single shopping trip.

The process may be a little more time-consuming, but it’s definitely worth your time — especially for budget-conscious consumers.

Making Multiple Purchases

If you use self-checkout to make multiple transactions, expect the register to potentially flag your transaction because the system thinks you’re not ringing up all of your purchases. At self-checkout, if you go to pay and the cameras notices you still have items in your cart, the system thinks you haven’t rung up everything in your order properly. This is one of those situations where an employee has to manually “approve your purchase” before you can continue.

If you go through the regular checkout, be sure to be highly organized, so you don’t go over the transactional limit and potentially pay full price for some items. Do your best to keep all of the items in each transaction separate, so, when you reach the register, it will make for an easier process. You might even consider grabbing a shopping basket to put in your shopping cart to keep the additional sale items separate.

And, finally, always check your receipt! Make sure you received the right sale prices for each transaction. If you didn’t, head over to customer service immediately for a resolution. Don’t just crumple your receipt at throw it away in the trash can at the front of the store. Take a few minutes to give it a quick review. You’d be surprised at how often there is a pricing error.

Photo: High On The Cheap

Clipping Digital Coupons

Unfortunately, you still need to clip the digital coupons to your account. However, King Soopers also made this process more accessible to all (in June of 2025) — even for those without access to the digital world. There is now a one-sheet available at all registers that you can simply scan at checkout that will automatically apply all of that week’s Weekly Digital Deals to your order. Ka-ching!

Photo: High On The Cheap

Important Note

The policy change only applies to the Weekly Digital Deals. Limits still apply to all other digital coupons. And digital coupons and paper coupons still may not be combined on the purchase of a single item.

Grocery store prices are sky high nowadays. That’s why this Colorado-grown discount grocery store might be worth a small road trip from Denver for young adults to large families and everyone in between. has been serving Northern Colorado for more than 20 years. However, many living in Denver/Boulder have never heard of the popular grocery chain…until now.

What is Esh’s Grocery Market?

Often referred to by shoppers as “the Ross of grocery stores”, Esh’s Grocery Market sources products from top brands and the largest distributors to help fight against food waste and make gourmet groceries affordable for everyone in a clean, friendly shopping environment.

Shoppers will find many customer-favorite top brand items, but also discover unique items hard to find elsewhere — including natural, organic and gourmet products. They carry more than 6,000 products at any given time.

How Much Can I Expect to Save?

All of the items are sourced from overstock and soon- to-be-expired products that meet all health and safety codes, giving them a second life when they would otherwise be sent to the landfill.

Best of all, shoppers save 40% to 60% off retail prices on most products. The prices are affordable because Esh’s resourceful team searches for closeout, overstock and straight-from-the source items.

The concept is simple. Esh’s purchases the store’s inventory at discounted prices and passes the savings along to its loyal customers.

What Can I Expect to Find on The Shelves?

Esh’s receives new shipments daily, so, every time you shop, it’s a new adventure in what you’ll find and how much you’ll save.

Photo: Esh’s Grocery Market

All of their products are sold while supplies last. That means the inventory is constantly changing — what you find one day may not be there the next time you shop. Get it before it’s gone!

Because the product line-up changes frequently, shoppers are encouraged to peruse all of the aisles and shelves — so they don’t miss out on any special or unique products with limited availability.

It’s a wise move for bargain hunters to fill up their shopping cart, when they find a product their family loves or uses often.

What is The Store’s Return Policy?

And Esh’s understands that trying new products can be challenging. That’s why, if you need to return an item for any reason, the grocery store has a 30-day return policy.

With a receipt, receive store credit or refund via your original form of payment.

Is Everything They Sell Fresh?

For those worried about the freshness of and/or expiration dates on grocery products, Esh’s helps to answer those questions with information about , as well as .

MHOTC also answers a few questions about the three main product labels on food products — .

Where Are They Located in Colorado?

There are Esh’s Grocery Markets in Colorado:

The store is open Monday to Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

— 913 Carbondale Dr.

— 375 W. 71st St.

Bargain hunters are always on the lookout for discounts, clearance and specials every time they shop — especially at the grocery store. Seasoned shoppers know to keep an eye out for red tags on the shelves and/or hidden clearance racks at the back of the store, but there’s also the rare Manager’s Specials that can also offer big savings.

Photo: High On The Cheap

A “Manager’s Special” means that the manager at that specific store location has decided to offer a discount on specific products, exclusive to only that location. This means the discounts’ availability and amounts vary widely by location. Just because one location has discounted an item does not mean that the location down the street will offer the same savings.

The reason to discount a product can vary, but often includes overstock and/or items that are about to expire. It’s not often you can spot Manager’s Specials much anymore, but there’s one place that offers them just about every day at every location — Sprouts Farmers Market.

Photo: High On The Cheap

The key is to always look at the produce department, namely the back refrigerated wall with various bagged produce and cut-up fruits. (On occasion, you can also find Manager’s Specials at the front entrance and/or throughout the produce department.) You can always find a variety of Manager’s Specials (including on organic produce!) — just look for the special tags. The discounts are often 75% off or more.

Yes, most of the produce products expire that same day…or usually within the next day or so. The trick is to always check all of the dates and find the package with the furthest expiration date — if one is available. The savings are optimum, if you’re using the produce for dinner that night or possibly breakfast or lunch the following day.

Photo: High On The Cheap

Our team has spotted lots of bagged salads, spinach, cut-up fruits (including pineapple, watermelon and cantaloupe), cauliflower, broccoli, coconut chunks, onions, salad dressings, sweet potatoes and more. Again, the selection and availability varies by day and by location. Bargain hunters could easily walk away with a good haul for under $10!

So, the next time you’re shopping at Sprouts Farmers Market, take a quick peek at the back wall in the produce section for fresh savings!

Finding deals at the grocery store is a must nowadays! And one of the best ways for the biggest savings are the weekly digital coupons just about every store offers. Well, it’s a new day at King Soopers! The grocery store has now made its weekly digital deals available to all customers via a “paper” coupon.

Photo: High On The Cheap

Many customers don’t own a smartphone (or computer) or have regular access to the Internet. Then, you have many who just aren’t tech savvy enough to figure out how it all works. And, let’s be honest, it can be complicated and overwhelming with so many digital coupons, sales and offers.

Customers must first download the digital coupon to their loyalty account before they can redeem it. Well, you think, that’s easy enough. However, for a large section of the population, it’s not such a simple task.

Unfortunately, those customers have been missing out on lots of savings for years. And they have expressed their frustration at not having access to those digital-only prices to little relief other than having to ask for assistance every time they checkout.

The coupon sheet is not intended to replace downloading the digital coupons to your account. If you already do so every week, you can simply keep using the same process.

This new “paper” digital coupon is intended to make those discounts accessible to all customers, especially those who have been overlooked or forgotten in the digital age.

Photo: High On The Cheap

Here’s how it works:

King Soopers now has a flyer available at the front of the store with that week’s digital deals. All you have to do is pick it up and scan the one barcode on the back at checkout.

With one scan, all of that week’s digital deals will automatically be applied to any qualifying items in your order. See photos for reference.

To redeem at self-checkout:

Scan your items and enter your Loyalty Account or alternate ID (phone number).

Press “Pay Now” button.

Press the “Coupon” button.

Scan the barcode on the back of the flyer and, then, hit “Done”.

Any participating items in your order will be discounted accordingly.

And, yes, the limits still apply — each coupon can be used up to 5 times in a single transaction.

Can’t find the flyer?

If you can’t find the flyer, just ask an employee for assistance. And, if you can’t find it at all, don’t worry. Most clerks have one readily available to scan at all of the checkout lanes.

In case you’re contemplating some spring cleaning, you may want to take on the task of organizing your pantry and refrigerator. There’s a good chance you’re buying food you probably already have in your kitchen (especially if it’s unorganized) — just hidden in the back or under other products. On the other side, you may have “expiration police” in your household. Those who refuse to consume anything expired and are quick to toss anything “old” in the garbage. They’re always the ones searching for an expiration date on every package.

It turns out, they may the ones committing a crime — the crime of throwing out perfectly good food and, therefore, wasting money. Many of those tiny little expiration dates refer to the quality of the item, not its safety for consumption.

It seems most of us are confused about expiration dates. Every year, it’s estimated that the average American family of four loses $1,500 to uneaten food — oftentimes because of the expiration date on the package. (Can you imagine having an extra $1,500 every year?)

Even the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) notes that food remains safe to consume after the expiration date, as long as it’s been handled properly and shows no signs of spoilage.

However it’s important to note cans that are dented, rusted, leaking or bulging should definitely not be consumed, because the contents could be tainted with bacteria such botulism.

Did you know the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) does not require food manufacturers to list expiration dates on products? The only exceptions are infant formula and baby food. Otherwise, in most states, it’s completely at the discretion of the manufacturer.

What does the date mean?

Here are the most common terms found on packaging and what each one means:

Best If Used By or Best Before

Established by the manufacturer, the term refers to the food or beverage’s quality. Until the date listed, the food is at its peak quality. After the date, the food or beverage is still safe to consume. However, the flavor and quality may not be as good. Of course, the longer you wait, the quality will diminish accordingly.

Use By

The term is a little more definitive, meaning the food should be consumed by the date stamped on the package. Past the date, you should be cautious and just toss it for safety.

The term is mostly used for perishable foods, including vegetables, fruits, meats, poultry, fish and dairy.

Consuming these foods past the expiration date can make you sick. The life of these foods can usually be extended by a few months, if you freeze them by the date on the package.

Sell By

The term is intended for retailers, as a marker for when the product needs to removed from the shelf. Most of these items are safe to eat or drink afterward — sometimes for weeks.

However, this is the term that causes the most confusion (and waste) for consumers because most read it as an “expiration date”, believing the food is no longer good past the date.

Storage recommendation

You should store commercially canned foods and other shelf stable products in a cool, dry place.

Never put them above the stove, under the sink, in a damp garage or basement or any place exposed to high or low temperature extremes.

If you do so, according to the USDA they are safe indefinitely. However, over time, most canned foods will change in taste and texture and may eventually lose nutritional value.

Get organized

One of the best ways to save money on your groceries is to organize your kitchen. Food is less likely to be trashed, when older items are used first.

If you keep your pantry and refrigerator organized, you can easily use what needs to be eaten next before it “goes bad.”

This is a trick bargain hunters have known for years — just treat your pantry as your own little grocery store.

When you restock a household staple, simply move older product to the front and put the newer items in the back.

That way, when you pull a can, bag or box for a meal, you know they’re in chronological order by expiration date.

The biggest mistake is just stocking new items on top of old ones. That’s how you end up with a can of beans from 2009.

Save money

Expiration dates can be a gold mine for bargain hunters. Many retailers drastically reduced the price on perishable and non-perishable products about to expire. You just have to know where to look for them.

Find the clearance spots at your favorite grocer, as they usually keep them in the same areas. (You can also check the shelves for clearance tags.) Then, every time you shop, check each area for the latest bargains.

You can usually find lots of deals in the meat and dairy departments. If an item is about to expire that same day or in the next few days, most grocers would rather sell it than throw it away.

As a result, you’ll find deep discounts — often 50% off or more. (If you’re lucky, you can sometimes find items at 75% to 90% off.)

The key is to know your family will consume it immediately, especially with dairy products. Although, a big family with lots of kids can easily go through a gallon of milk within in just a day or two!

A good discount can also help dictate your dinner plans. If you find a great deal on ground beef or chicken, you can easily make hamburgers, tacos or fajitas that same night.

Discounted meat also offers a little more flexibility because you can easily freeze it to extend its usability. If you find big savings, you might consider stocking up your freezer.

And don’t be shy. If you find a product on the shelf about to expire, ask the store or department manager if they’d be willing to reduce the price. You’d be surprised at their response. My tip is to be extra polite. Being rude or demanding won’t get you too far.

You’re actually helping them keep their shelves “fresh” and from potentially losing money on an expired product. Make the meat and dairy department managers your friend! This trick also works well in the floral department.

Being a good bargain hunter takes a little confidence and work, but it’s worth it. You may not always get a “yes”, but it never hurts to ask — especially when it comes to saving money.

More resources

Given food waste is an important issue for society, especially because its ramifications affect all of us, one of the objectives of the USDA is to reduce food loss and waste.

They’re “stocked” with lots of helpful information for the everyday consumer on food date labels, storing food properly and more — .
