Before you go grocery shopping, note the following bargain hunter tips:

Loyalty Clubs — Most (if not, all) sales and deals require customers to be a member of the store’s loyalty club. You can sign-up online or at the customer service counter.

Sale Limits — Many sales have a limit to the number of items you can purchase at the discounted price. Be sure to review and adhere to any stated limits. If you purchase more, expect to full price for the additional items.

Use Coupons — When possible, use manufacturer or store coupons for maximum savings. At most stores, coupons can be stacked on top of sale prices. However, be aware of each store’s coupon policy, as many have limits and restrictions.

Check Clearance — Always shop your grocery store’s clearance items. Most stores have a section solely devoted to marked down items or manager’s specials. Find it at your store and check it every time you shop. You can often find items marked at 75% off or more. The items change often, based on expiration dates, damaged packaging and discontinued items.

Get a Receipt — Always get a receipt. If you have a problem with a product or experience a price discrepancy, you will need a receipt for an easier resolution. Bargain hunters always review their receipt to ensure they have properly received the correct sale prices or discounts.

Rain Checks — If a sale item is out of stock, ask for a rain check. Rain check policies vary by store. In addition, many stores do not offer rain checks on digital deals, so it’s wise to shop early.

How do you get your cash back?

The cash back can be redeemed in one of two ways:

Credit — Simply transfer the amount to your SooperCard. There is no minimum amount required.  The credit will automatically redeem at checkout on your next shopping order. And, if you don’t use it all at once, the remaining balance will remain on the account.

It’s important to note that the credit is available for use by all members of a household who share an account. Whoever does the shopping next will get the discount.

Cash — If you prefer cash, you can receive payment via Pay Pal. There is a minimum transfer amount of $20. And, of course, you must have a valid PayPal account.

Can you combine coupons with the Cash Back offers?

Coupons (including digital and paper) and Cash Back offers may not be combined on the purchase of a single item. 

When would a Cash Back offer not be eligible?

Cash Back Offers are not eligible on close-out sale items such as a “Manager’s Special” or if the value of the Cash Back exceeds the price of the item.

MHOTC Tip: Be sure you are purchasing the correct product (brand, size, flavor, etc.) or number of products. One of the biggest issues with cash back programs is that the shopper does not purchase the correct item or does not purchase the minimum required.

To qualify for the birthday treat offer, simply add your birthday (month and day) to your account and use your account to purchase an item in-store or online within the last 12 months prior to redeeming your first birthday treat.
