Denver and surrounding communities boast a number of festivals, parades and fun events celebrating Cinco de Mayo. Cinco de Mayo, is not Mexican Independence Day. Actually, it commemorates the victory of an outnumbered Mexican army over the French forces of Napoleon III at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. These days, May 5 has become a celebration of Latino culture. For 2026, most celebrations will be over the weekend, May 2 or 3.

Events are FREE unless otherwise noted. Here are some of the bigger ones we’ve found.
If you know of something we missed, drop us an email at info@milehighonthecheap.com and we’ll try and add it to the list.
There are also dozens of bars and restaurants hosting their own celebrations, with food and drink specials and, sometimes, entertainment. Check your favorite spots. After all, we live in a place that loves to party and Cinco de Mayo is one of the best reasons to do so.
