Comments on: How To Get The Best Deals at Safeway /get-best-deals-safeway/ Your local resource for Denver freebies, discounts and deals Thu, 14 Sep 2017 19:38:10 +0000 hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=6.9.4 By: Santa Claus /get-best-deals-safeway/#comment-87970 Thu, 14 Sep 2017 19:38:10 +0000 /?p=146002#comment-87970 I found price issues at my store consistently on Just For You downloads. Clerks also don’t get the right produce number. At my store getting these resolved is a major hassle – they are understaffed.

Instead I call the toll free customer service number and resolve through them. They place credits on your Safeway Club Card in multiples of a dollar to resolved discrepancies. On occasion, and sometimes often, the issue is with their software. They appreciate identifying those and like getting a record of issues at any store. It just work better this way and takes far less time.

CA — From our experience, the misinformed or unhelpful employee is the most frustrating part of shopping for deals. And, as you stated, sometimes, a manager is no better. We applaud you calling corporate to express your frustration. We do every time, whenever we receive poor customer service at any business. – BKC

Sandi — We agree! We always have lots of trouble with Just For U coupons. It seems we’re always having to “argue” for the discount. If the employee won’t give it to us, we simply take the item off our order. It’s so frustrating. -BKC

Had to call the Corporate office on her.

So no matter what their policies are, the individual employees just do what they want.

I started going to the self check-out so I could go slowly and screen this myself. I had to continually stop and get help from the attendant. It started to be exasperating. A corporation this big should really be able to fix this snafu.

Laura – We had the same question, given there’s a difference between what’s stated in-store (30 days) and online (90 days.) Our local PR rep tells that it’s 30 days, but that the rule is flexible. Safeway is more concerned with providing good customer service, so, more than likely, they will accept most rain checks — within reason. -BKC

Also, I was recently given a free product, not realizing that it was store policy to give it free if there was a price discrepancy. I just thought they were being nice:).

Lynn – Digital coupons are never doubled across the board — no matter the grocer or store. We have yet to find an exception. That’s why we prefer paper coupons. -BKC

As to doubling of coupons – I have NEVER found ANY store (Safeway or King’s) that doubles DIGITAL coupons. If you ever find one, let us know!

And, before King’s stopped doubling paper coupons, I rarely got them doubled at Safeway. NOW, I have proof of the policy (full page ad from Safeway saying they STILL double coupons), so I can show that to managers who, in the past, denied doubling as an everyday policy!

Thanks for noting the “first item free, if price is wrong” policy is true for Safeway, too. Never knew that. Thought it was only King’s that did that. (King’s has been very spotty on following that policy lately! Seems to have been ignored since the double coupons disappeared.)
