Free ‘Tuba Christmas’ Concerts in Downtown Denver & Parker

Admit it, tubas get no respect. But hundreds of tubas, euphoniums and other low-register brass instruments spread holiday cheer on Sunday, December 21, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Denver Center Performing Arts Complex (in Sculpture Park). It’s all part of , a nationwide series of FREE concerts performed by local, volunteer musicians who play tubas and other big brass, and who assemble only hours before concert time to rehearse their “heavy metal” tunes.
Musicians and their instruments will be adorned in bright, festive holiday colors and decorations.

Parking Info: The Theater District Convention Center Light Rail Station is across the street. Street parking and many pay lots available. Plus, parking meters in downtown Denver are FREE on Sundays.

Those in the Parker area can hear their own concert on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at noon at the O’Brien Park Gazebo.

Boulder Switches on Holiday Lights on November 23

, always a fun destination, really shines during the holidays. Festivities begin Sunday, November 23, 2025, at 2 p.m. (earlier than in year’s past) with “” when the Art Deco Boulder County Courthouse and the plaza in front of it (1300 block of Pearl Street) are illuminated. Santa, assisted by Mrs. Claus and downtown’s very own Freezie the Snowman, counts down to the grand illumination of the courthouse, the Pearl Street Mall and East and West Pearl.

Lights decorate the trees along the Pearl Street Mall (between 11th and 15th Sts.), and the lighted star high on Flagstaff Mountain is an annual festive beacon.

The “official” program starts at 5 p.m. and concludes with the flip of the switch at approximately 5:20 p.m. Outdoor visits with Santa are available until 7 p.m.

Remember, on Saturday & Sunday, parking is FREE in City of Boulder parking garages and FREE on Sundays at meters.

Rink at the Rock Keeps Castle Rock On Ice

Ice is always nice, especially at the in downtown Castle Rock. This year’s season skating runs Saturday, November 19 through Saturday, December 31. Hours are Thursdays from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Fridays from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Be sure to check the rink calendar for special activities, as well as special holiday hours.

Fees are $10 for adults (12+), $8 for children (11 and under) and $4/pair skate rental. 414 N. Perry St., Castle Rock.

Santa’s Village at Denver Botanic Gardens Chatfield Farms

Santa and his friends are returning to Denver Botanic Gardens Chatfield Farms. opens Friday, November 29 and runs through Sunday, December 22 on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. (with last entry at 7:30 p.m.), as well as nightly Monday to Thursday, December 16 to 19.

Chatfield Farms is transformed into a magical village. Twinkling lights adorn many of the historical buildings including the schoolhouse, Hildebrand Ranch, farm house and Green Barn. Hop on the hayride to catch a movie at Santa’s cinema or go inside a life-size snow globe.

Tickets for Santa’s Village are $20/adults and children ages 3 to 15, $15/senior (65+) or military. A 4-Pack costs $60. Denver Botanic Gardens members get a $5 per ticket discount on the $20 tickets.

or at the ticket booth in the Chatfield Farms parking lot during the event (if available). Ticket booth opens at 4:30 p.m. Advance tickets may also be purchased at the York Street Visitor Center or Chatfield Farms Visitor Center during public hours.

Tickets are limited each night. Purchase in advance to ensure admittance on your desired date.
