This organization helps senior adults who are still living in their homes or apartments with “a little help”. Most of the jobs are just an hour or two. They might need help weeding their yards, watering their flowers, getting a ride to the doctor or bank, helping sort their mail, or with a technology issue. The organization screens members and volunteers, then when a member has a request, they submit it and it is put on a map. As the volunteer, you can easily search for requests in your area or by the kind of work you want to do. You can pick up just one volunteer assignment every now and then or you can do more if you are able. My mother got help with her yard through this group and I have begun to volunteer. It is very organized and the people I have helped are very grateful. It is a good one to involve children with as they can help with things like weeding very easily, and what a way to teach children (and people of all ages) the value of being a good neighbor to our elderly population.
